Static Horizons

A unique series specifically crafted to become digital art. The physical paintings are all acrylic on 18x24 canvas board—photographed, digitized, and animated before being minted as NFTs.

This conceptual series uses a reductionist approach with geometric forms to mimic natural elements. The work is meant to invoke a sense of paralysis felt during the global lockdown; a loss of control, a stillness immobilizing body and mind.

Static Horizon

The first completed work, and namesake in the series, Static Horizon aims to achieve the core concept, a feeling of stillness.

In our stillness there is a longing for a distant place, a desire for something natural and beautiful—and yet we ourselves feel cold, distant, and unattainable.

Breathing Underwater

A perilous weight on your lungs, an eerie quiet drums your ears—you fight for the surface, yet succumb to the undertow.

Impending Darkness

A dark sun rising. The concept of this work was to create a sense of calm, despite the feeling of doom.

Constructed in only two layers of paint, there is beauty in the simplicity of the execution, a welcome reprieve from our endless uncertainty.

Internal Distortion

By blocking off a linear slice of the painting and using a variety of mediums and heavy body acrylics, I intended to create a sense of depth that becomes almost voyeuristic.

A feeling that we're looking upon someone else's mirror, and peering into the chaos of their world.

Transference

During the pandemic, I thought a lot about how we share ourselves with the world. Whether the transfer of positive energy from one to another, or the transfer of a life threatening illness, we are innately connected and impactful to the world around us.

This work is meant to be a reflection on the infinite cycle of transmission.

Forced Inertia

The process by which I created this piece is indicative of the feeling I intended to portray. Taking large amounts of acrylic, I stabbed at the board with two brushes to create the paint's lift and build textures. Then I took sheets of sandpaper and scraped down the paint to give it a rough, sculptural aesthetic.

A physical, forceful process of offering abundance, then taking it away.
